A perfect date-day!

It was a nice change of pace having our babysitter come on a Saturday morning and watch the kids for the day. We hadn’t been canoeing since we were dating, many years ago, so this brought back very pleasant memories! It was a beautiful summer day on the river. We pulled ashore and enjoyed a picnic lunch while we people watched (there were several other canoes and kayaks). After a few hours of canoeing  we had enough time to squeeze in a tennis lesson for me. Warren is a good coach and I so enjoy playing tennis with him!

Wooden Box Project

Since the boys have showed such an interest in building things out of wood, Warren thought it would great to make something they could each help with and keep at the end of the project. This was a perfect idea. I’m hoping they take care of the boxes and keep them for a good long time.
Here, Ethan and Isaac are admiring how smooth the wood felt after it had been sanded.
Lincoln didn’t help much with his box, but he’s still so proud of it!

North Carolina

Immediately following the Anderson reunion we headed a bit further south stopping in Charlotte. We were able to see my parents, my sister, and my nieces. We stayed in a hotel (which is always a highlight for the boys thanks to the elevator buttons, pool, and breakfast bar) near my sister’s house.

Again, the kids had a blast playing with cousins they don’t see very often. We had a great (busy!) week visiting and catching up with so many family members from each side.

Family Reunion

Once again the Anderson clan gathered together in Pigeon Forge for the annual reunion.  This year, our family along with three other families stayed in a chalet separate from the main gathering place.  It wasn’t as noisy, which was nice, however we did have to worry about being eaten by bears as we walked up and down the wooded hill.

The boys had a great time getting to know their cousins a bit better!

Cul-de-sac Party

We always have a kickball or baseball game going on in the cul-de-sac. The kids love it! They stayed up until 12:30 AM playing kickball on this night.
Dixie is the sweetest dog. The cul-de-sac wouldn’t be the same without her (though I suppose it would be less noisy)!
Isaac and Savannah. She adores him!
Sparklers!
Such a fun night, as usual!

Drive-In Movie

Warren had never been to a drive-in movie and I hadn’t been since childhood. Last week, we went to see Cars 2 with some friends and we laughed at the whole experience. I’m not sure I could tell you what the movie was about. But, I can tell you we had the craziest lady behind us with an extremely loud laugh who found everything funny, kids ran around on a sugar-highs from candy, rude people drove around the packing lot during the movie, and  the trees lit up with fire-flies which was more entertaining to our boys than the movie.  I don’t regret going at all, but it’s clear to us why drive-in movies a mostly a thing of the past.

Summer Fun

Life is good!
Cannon Ball!!!
Chasing after the dive-sticks.
Ethan and Isaac loved playing “shark” with Daddy.  They were pretending to cut or shoot themselves and  fall into the water. It seemed a little violent to me, but they said the shark wouldn’t come after them if they weren’t bleeding. Of course… (Can you tell they love to watch shows like “Nature” and “Nova?”)
All this pool fun made Lincoln “soooo hungwy.”

Slingshot

Isaac attempted to make a slingshot out of sticks and rubber-bands, but was left frustrated with the end result. He asked his daddy for a little help and together they created a slingshot just perfect in the eyes of Isaac.

Hailey and Lincoln found the saw to be a little too noisy for their ears.
Here it is! Isaac proudly showed off his new toy to everyone and anyone he could find.
The only problem was that his little brother kept eating the ammunition!

Memorial Day

Cul-de-sac cookout.
Water balloons were the big excitement of the night. Ethan and Isaac learned how to fill and tie the balloons themselves, which was so nice!
The Thornes came along with us to the Memorial Day parade.

Run for Fun Day

I was able to enjoy the first grade ‘run for fun day’ with Isaac. We had 30 minutes to run as many laps around the track as we could. I let Isaac set the pace and was proud of him for running 2 miles in the humidity of a hot May morning!

Isaac’s teacher is standing on the left. She was such a great teacher for him!
Go Isaac!
Isaac and our neighbor, Austin.
Now that was a good Popsicle and well deserved!

Alex Turns 3!

Alex had his party at the park. The weather was perfect and my kids had a blast!
Warren gave the boys fresh haircuts just before the party. They weren’t happy one bit with how short Daddy made their hair. But, they look so handsome!
Presents, yay!
Lincoln wanted to open one of Alex’s new guys.   It’s so hard saying  ”no” to him sometimes!

Down on the Farm

With only a few days of school remaining before summer break, Lincoln and I soaked up our one on one time with some fun activities. On this day we joined Kari and the boys for a day filled with fun boy stuff.  And there was a lot for them to see and do here!

It was even educational with an up-close lesson in biology.  (My favorite pic of the day!)
A puppet show!
The play barn was really cool with lots of different activities for the kids to enjoy.
Kari and sweet Zachary.
The boys even went fishing. Lincoln didn’t catch anything (he didn’t seem to mind, though). But…
Owen caught one!
Happy Alex.
Pony rides.
The cousins taking a minute to pose for us.
Lincoln’s best buddy (or as Owen would say BFF)!

Mother’s Day

The cul-de-sac dads are awesome. They played kickball with the kids for two hours to give the moms a break.  I appreciated it so much and the boys had a blast.  As if that wasn’t enough, Warren then took the boys to Barnes and Noble and I stayed home all by myself.  They returned with my favorite coffee. I should mention all the homemade cards and pictures the boys made for me. (Ethan made me a coupon book with a coupon that was good for “cleaning part of the house.”  After all, who wants to clean the whole house?) They worked hard and Isaac even helped Lincoln make something for me. I even ran out of space on my refrigerator! I had such a GREAT day. I’m blessed!

Cul-De-Sac Egg Hunt

The kids had a blast during our second annual Easter egg hunt. They each collected 25 filled eggs and hunted a large personal surprise egg with their name on it.

Here are 13 out of the 16 children in our cul-de-sac. The missing three are little babies and will join the group next year when they can sit up. For the first time in a long time, nobody is pregnant back here!
These two love each other so much!
Dexter is our next door neighbor’s dog. He so pretty and such a sweet pup.

Ethan Turns 9

We kicked off Ethan’s birthday with a trip to the bakery for a donut breakfast. (Ethan did not eat all these donuts himself, we each had one and went back for seconds.) I love birthdays!
A new DSi game!
When we called Ethan to the table for cake-time, he came with wet, sweaty hair. Uncle Dan and a couple friends tried to give him a cool style for his pictures.
The birthday boy! He chose an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen.
The kids were so cute as they gathered closely to Ethan and listened as he read each card and opened each gift.
Ethan has the best expressions when he opens gifts!  He’s always been easily excited and loves the little things as much as the bigger ones.  This particular expression was made after receiving a $50.00 check!
A new skateboard!
Here he is excited over a Super Mario PEZ dispenser. See what I mean about the little things?

Testing out his new ramp!

My Birthday

This little boy and his handsome daddy took me out for a birthday lunch.
When we came back home there was a cookie basket waiting for me. A gift from my sister!
My sweet neighbor, Brooke brought these flowers to me.
A birthday picture of me (just for you Kari)! ;)
Warren and I baked my cake together. It’s called Mississippi Mud Cake and it’s incredible! Dan, Kari, and their boys joined us for cake and ice-cream. I had a very nice birthday. :)

Getting acquainted with a brand new cousin

Ethan, more so than his brothers, was interested in little Zachary. He asked to hold him several times and had a lot of questions about babies. One question in particular was difficult to answer. ;)
Five of the boys enjoying some down time together.
During Mom & Dad’s visit they celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary!

New Nephew

Dan and Kari welcomed their third boy into the world a week and a half ago. Little Zachary is a handsome guy and such a sweetie-pie! I’ve been around him for several hours since he’s been born and have yet to hear him cry.

I’m so glad we live close and I’m able to get my baby fix whenever I need it.

While holding one-day-old Zachary, I asked Warren if it made him want another.  His reply, “No, in fact do you want to hold him again?”  :)
Look at this beautiful baby! Such a sweet face. I think he looks a lot like his big brother, Owen.

The Circus

We know Ethan isn’t a teenager yet, but he sure thinks he is sometimes.
The circus can be exhausting for a little guy!
