Getting acquainted with a brand new cousin

Ethan, more so than his brothers, was interested in little Zachary. He asked to hold him several times and had a lot of questions about babies. One question in particular was difficult to answer. ;)

New Nephew

Dan and Kari welcomed their third boy into the world a week and a half ago. Little Zachary is a handsome guy and such a sweetie-pie! I’ve been around him for several hours since he’s been born and have yet to hear him cry.

I’m so glad we live close and I’m able to get my baby fix whenever I need it.

While holding one-day-old Zachary, I asked Warren if it made him want another.  His reply, “No, in fact do you want to hold him again?”  :)
Look at this beautiful baby! Such a sweet face. I think he looks a lot like his big brother, Owen.

My Birthday Boy!

He might be 7, but he’s still little enough for me to hold.
At breakfast we gave Isaac the gift we knew he had been anticipating for two years!  A couple years ago Warren told the boys that once they turn 7 years old they could have their very own pocket knife (if it were up to me they would have to be like 15, but this is what I like to call “Daddy’s department”).  Ethan has had his for two years and Isaac was thrilled to finally have one too!
Ethan struggles every year with allowing a whole day to be centered around Isaac. This year was no exception.
Isaac played several games of checkers with his friends (and Uncle Dan) during his party.
Nice belly shot of Kari. :) Just 6 days before delivery-day!
He even sent everyone home with his favorite game.

Handmade by Daddy

(And a little help from Isaac.)

Recently, Isaac has impressed us with his Checkers skills. He had played a little at school during recess and then asked us to play with him at home.  I will admit that he beat me several times in a row before I finally beat him. Warren told Isaac he would pay him $5.00 the first time Isaac beat him. After only a few games, Isaac won!  When asked if his pride was hurt, Warren replied, “It would have been nice if he waited until he was atleast 10 before beating me.”  Warren was proud of Isaac and thought it would be fun to make a checkerboard from scratch for him.
Isaac cut one square for the board with the table saw, which made Mommy a nervous wreck!
After a few days and several hours of work, Warren finished the board just in time to give it to Isaac as a 7th birthday gift. Like Isaac’s shirt? :)

Meet “Cocoa”

Since we don’t have enough craziness in our house the boys decided we needed another hamster. Naming it (not sure if it’s a girl or boy) took about a day, as we told the boys they must all agree. Some names in the mix were, Peanut, Checker, and Oscar. Finally, they settled on Cocoa. What a cute little critter Cocoa is!

Surprise Baby Shower

Kari’s friend, Brittani and I planned a surprise baby shower at Kari’s favorite restaurant, The Olive Garden.  Though, the attendance was lower than we had hoped for, a good time was had by all.

She was surprised! I had to tell a few lies along the way to keep the secret, so I was l glad to clear my conscience!
Brittani was awesome at cutting and serving “real” pieces of cake!
I can’t wait to meet my new little nephew!
