Ethan is on his way to a picture-perfect smile. He has handled phase 1 of braces in such a grown-up manner. We’re proud of him and remind him daily that someday he will thank us for this! :-)
Does he complain of them bothering him? I think we have a few with braces in their futures… Ugh. I’m glad I never had them. But, in Ethan’s case, at least his Daddy can sympathize.
I too, am glad that Warren knows exactly what he’s going through. It’s helped a lot. Ethan had a lot of discomfort during the first few days. Now, he does great. Getting him to brush his teeth really well 3 times a day has been a challenge. Also, he doesn’t like to wear his retainer at night so we have the nightly 30 second argument. I mostly hate that he can’t enjoy so many of the foods kids like (popcorn, fruit snacks, chewy candy, etc..).
We already had to make a trip back to the orthodontist for a loose wire. It’s a good 25 minute drive. I dread all the future appointments to and from their office. But, we love our dentist and orthodontist. I hate to switch out of convenience.

It’s great to see the confident smile! No self-consciousness there! What a mature, good boy Ethan is. And, you’re right–he’ll thank you someday.
