Halloween 2010 (Cowboys and an Indian)

Halloween was greatly anticipated this year.  The boys were excited to collect their loot and see their friends.  I thought Ethan and Isaac would want to extend our usual candy-collecting-route, but to my surprise they were content with our routine.  In fact, half way through they complained of walking too much!  Lincoln was painfully slow at trick-or-treating so Warren took him and I took the big boys.  It was funny to hear all the comments people made about our Rubik’s cubes.  Several men thought my scrambled cube and Warren’s solved cube was some kind of metaphor about women being complicated and having men all figured out.  I also had several people say, “You won’t believe it, there is another Rubik’s cube down the street!”  …Yep, that’s my husband…
*
After only five minutes of passing out candy, Ethan and Isaac were ready to go inside and sort through their goodies. They were bummed that Mr. Abney, (their favorite house to trick-or-treat) was not home.  But, just before heading to bed, the doorbell rang. Mr. Abney walked down to our house just to give our boys a big bag of candy. They were so thrilled and I really think they will always remember it.  We had a great Halloween!

Costume Making

Warren and I don’t normally dress up for Halloween. But, this year we had a cul-de-sac costume party. I searched online for ideas and found a Rubik’s cube costume and thought it was just perfect for my geeky clever husband.

Jack-O-Lanterns in the Making

Our baby wanted a “mean punkin.”  So sad, my
happy-faced jack-o-lantern days are on hold.
Cute pumpkins!

Inflatable Fun

We had a great time at Josie’s 3rd birthday party! They had three different inflatables set up in the backyard.

I love the look of determination on their faces!

Celebrating Fall

Our boys
Our middle cutie
Ethan has decided he’s too old for hayrides and pumpkin patches.  To quote him,  “I’m in 3rd grade and hayrides just aren’t my thing anymore”.  I like to believe it was just his mood at that particular moment, but truth is, he’s growing up much too quickly. Things that once thrilled him are becoming somewhat dull.
Lincoln is happy doing whatever we do.  That’s the nice thing about his age. No complaints, just excited for the new and fresh experiences of life.
See, Mommy, it’s not too heavy for me!
How ’bout this one, Daddy?
Daddy found the pick of the patch!
“Mommy this corn is like 3 time taller than me!”
Lincoln had a blast “falling” into the tall grass out in the pumpkin patch.  Ethan perked up when we ate the delicious sweet treats (Apple fritters and cinnamon doughnuts).  We arrived home just in time for the babysitter and Warren and I left for some “us” time.  We got home a little after 9:00, the kids were sound asleep and the two of us sat and talked until 1:00 AM.  Such a great day!

A Crisp Fall Evening

The Family

The 3 munchkins
We ended the photo shoot a bit frustrated with our giggly and obnoxious children, but blew off some steam with an acorn war on the playground! 🙂  Oh, and I learned how to make a really loud whistling sound by blowing over the top of an acorn!

Basketball

Isaac’s second round of YMCA basketball was very enjoyable for him. His skills have improved so much and I’m very proud of his hard work.  I love how he gave me a thumbs up or thumbs down most times as he ran past me.  I guess he wanted me to know what he was thinking. I smiled and quickly reminded him to pay attention to them game!  🙂  So frustrated I didn’t get any of this on video.  Next time!
