The Cast

Here is Isaac getting his cast put on. It only took about 10 minutes. The nurse had quite a personality and joked around a lot! He had a strange sense of humor.

The fact of needing a cast for 3 weeks is a bummer, but nothing ice-cream can’t fix!
Do you like the bright green color that Isaac chose? I thought for sure he would go for orange.

Here is Isaac just a few hours after being home. I don’t think a cast will slow him down much!
The nice thing about this cast is that he can wear it on the bath tub and smimming. In fact, he is supposed to get it wet everyday.
Is he going to let anyone sign it? I have never heard of a cast that is supposed to get wet every day! How will his leg dry out? I would think his skin would get all emaciated and stinky. Well, it would get stinky anyway!
I would have guessed orange too! It is good that he can walk on it. That will be much easier for him!
BTW, at first I thought that was Warren there putting on the cast!
Hi from Germany,
your blog is very intersting!
My son, Fabian, age 10, is wheelchair bound since he fell from a tree two years ago.
It was a very hard time for all of us after Fabians accident. The moment when the doctor told us, that Fabian is paralyzed and the moment when we must told him that he never walk again, was so terrible. Especially terrible was the day, when Fabian got his first wheelchair. I still cry when I saw him sitting in his wheelchair at the first time.
But Fabian is so brave! I am so proud of him.
Since his accident Fabian visits a school for special needs kids. All other kids in his class are disabled, too. The most kids must use a wheelchair, tree kids can walk with a walker / quad canes.
Every Saturday Fabian visits a sport group for children in wheelchairs. Two hours they play together in their wheelchairs. It is so funny for the kids.
Two month ago he got a new “Spidermann”-wheelchair. If you are interest I will send you some photos of him in his new wheelchair.
Best wishes Katja

How did you come across our blog?
Hi,
thank you for your answer.
I come across your blog by accident.
Best wishes from Germany to all of you.
It looks like Isaac is enjoying every minute of the casting! I love the green cast. Good choice, Isaac!
My heart goes out to Katja and Fabian. How wonderful that he is so brave and can still enjoy himself with his friends. I’ll bet he looks cute in his Spiderman wheelchair!
