The Cast

Here is Isaac getting his cast put on. It only took about 10 minutes.   The nurse had quite a personality and joked around a lot! He had a strange sense of humor.

The fact of needing a cast for 3 weeks is a bummer, but nothing ice-cream can’t fix!

Do you like the bright green color that Isaac chose? I thought for sure he would go for orange.

Here is Isaac just a few hours after being home. I don’t think a cast will slow him down much!

The nice thing about this cast is that he can wear it on the bath tub and smimming. In fact, he is supposed to get it wet everyday.

Isaac UPDATE

After several more days of a crawling and limping cycle I took Isaac in for more X-rays. We found that he did break three bones in his foot right behind his three middle toes. Apparently when he was jumping around and playing, his toes somehow got bent under his foot when he landed on it.

They put his foot in a splint and  he gets a cast tomorrow. We’re not sure yet how long he will have to have it on. We are hoping he’ll be able to walk  once his cast is on.

He is doing fine, but seems a little bummed.  His friend just came over to help get his mind off things. He is mostly concerned about whether or not he can ride his bike.

I will post pictures tomorrow of his new cast.

(I was told that it sometimes takes 7-10 days for an injury like this to show up on an X-ray. That is why his first X-ray came back normal. )

Sore Foot

Isaac hurt his foot on Monday night while playing in the basement. He was in too much pain to put any weight on his foot for the rest of the night. We gave him some Motrin for the pain and put him to bed hoping that he would be better in the morning. But, still the next morning he couldn’t walk. I took him to get X-rays. The Dr. said the bones look fine, that’s good. Today is Wednesday and he still crawls everywhere and complains of pain.

He seemed to enjoy his visit to the Doctor’s office. He played Ethan’s Nintendo Dsi and got to ride in a wheelchair.

Getting X-Rays.

I sure hope his foot feels better soon! Poor guy!

(Good thing he’s so tiny, it makes carrying him much easier!)

Ecstatic over ICECREAM!

Lincoln’s first push-up ice-cream had him smiling from ear to ear the entire time! He was cracking me up!

Even better with a friend, don’t you think, Josie? 🙂

Lincoln was so happy that he put his ice-cream down for a second to clap! Such personality…

Still smiling…

Silly boy!

Random Photos from TN

Lincoln LOVED Grandma’s piano! He looked so sweet with his little legs dangling from the bench as his tiny fingers happily pressed the keys. He could climb up onto the bench with no help and seemed quite proud of himself.

Making music with Daddy.

Lincoln was able to open the door to get outside. This made me nervous and we had to keep a close eye on our little escapee! Again he was quite proud of this accomplishment and opened and closed the door hundreds of times!

Ethan with a couple of his favorite birthday gifts. The flowers were so pretty in the front yard!

We kept finding Lincoln inside the dog cage! At one point he even took his blankie in there to snuggle with. Haha!

I couldn’t resist this t-shirt.

Bed-head! (Or as Ethan and Isaac call it, “stick-up hair”)

I know have lots of pictures of Lincoln from our trip. Mostly because the older two boys were off playing with their cousins and only seemed to come around when they were hungry!

A nice picture of Nathan, Elise, and 3-year-old Simon.

Cousin Misha

Ethan’s 7th Birthday!!!

7 years old already… Where does the time go?

We left for Tennessee on the morning of Ethan’s birthday. We let him open our gift and the package he received in the mail from Grandma. He also had a few cards to open.

Look at his face? He had been asking for a DSi, but didn’t actually think he would get one! Warren and I were hesitant about the idea, but we found there are several educational games along with fun games too.

We got him a math game (his favorite subject) and Super Mario Brothers, of course!

It was a great thing to get for him due to our 5 hour drive that day! I found a note in the back of the van that Ethan wrote. It said, “I have a DSi now!” He even drew a picture of it.

Mommy and the birthday boy!

I LOVE this picture. It was taking from the deck looking down into the yard.

Hannah, Annette, and Ethan… Such nice cousins!

Haha! Here is Grandma telling Ethan that she didn’t forget about his birthday spankings!

Blow! We hope your wish comes true, sweet boy!

Way to follow through, Grandma!

Ethan had lots of gifts to open! One from each of his 6 cousins who were there and one from Grandma and Grandpa!

Thank you everybody for making Ethan’s day so special! He said to me that night, “This was my best 7th birthday!” 🙂

Our 7-year-old enjoying his birthday cake!

On our way to Tennessee Ethan chose McDonald’s for lunch where he enjoyed a hot fudge sundae.

Spring Cut-Out Cookies

I found some cute Spring cookie cutters and they were the perfect excuse to do some baking and decorating. I took a bunch of these to TN during Easter weekend.

Mommy’s Birthday!

I had an awesome birthday this year!!

At 6:30 AM Warren gave me a hug and wished me a happy birthday before he left for work.

At 7:16 Ethan came running into my room waving a piece of paper in his hands saying “Happy Birthday, Mommy!”.  The rule at our house is that he cannot go downstairs until 7:00 each morning. And every day at that time you can be sure to hear his happy-it’s-morning footsteps running down the stairs.  This morning was no exception. But, on this morning he was eager to get started on my birthday picture. Nobody had to remind him that it was my birthday.  He was so proud to give this picture to me and told me, “It only took me 16 minutes!” His drawing melted me heart and I (almost) cried happy tears. Ethan has been so thoughtful lately. His picture was great, but it was his thoughtfulness that really made me feel special!

In the picture he gave me heart shaped hands. The sun is saying “Have a good birthday!” The girl (me) is telling the sun, “thank you!” This is a picture I will keep forever! 🙂

I took the boys to the mall where we met up with Warren for lunch.

We had the boys picture taken with the Easter Bunny. Lincoln liked the bunny just fine from a distance and from the security of Mommy’s and Daddy’s arms. But, he was not so crazy about this huge, furry, animal holding him. Way too close for comfort!

The quality is not the greatest…it’s a picture of a picture. We were having problems with the scanner.

We ate at Chick-Fil-A and then Warren headed back to work. Kari and the boys were at the mall too. She and I took the kids to the pet store. We got an adorable puppy out and let the kids play with it. My boys still have never asked for a dog…that’s a good thing! We have several neighbors with dogs so they can get their dog-fill from them just fine.

While letting the kids play at the play place in the mall I was asked, by a random mom, where I get my hair cut. The best part is, she asked because she liked it so much! Compliments are even more fun to receive when it’s your birthday!
