Another Day in the Snow

Catching huge snowflakes!

My lilac tree. Everything had a good thick layer of ice this morning!

The bush near our front door.

I got in on the fun! I even went down the hill standing up on the sled and made it without falling. Good thing, too, I had the camera around my neck…I forgot it was there!

Our back table.
Oh, another SNOW DAY tomorrow. No school!

A SNOW DAY morning treat.

The boys got to have breakfast in (Mommy’s) bed. They were excited about watching cartoons and eating oatmeal in bed! Ethan said, “Can we do this all the days?”

Let in snow!

We finally got a big snow! The boys couldn’t wait to go outside. However, Ethan only lasted about 15 minutes before he was too cold to stay out. Warren even told him he would get $10.00 if he finished shoveling the rest of the driveway. Isaac and I stayed for about an hour.

Daddy always makes a huge snow pile when he shovels.

A snow-slide!

Isaac and Halle (our next door neighbor) are picking the icicles from the playset.

Bye- bye, Daddy!

Lincoln love the snow! His gloves kept falling off and his hands got so red and cold. I made him go inside with Daddy, but his heart was broken that he couldn’t stay out longer. He didn’t mind the cold one bit.

King of the mountain!

So cute!

Lincoln was really cute outside. Someday we won’t have to shovel the driveway again…nice thing about having 3 boys!

Ethan and Halle going down the hill together. Ethan stayed out MUCH longer the second time. :)

Ethan with his rosy cheeks!

Isaac’s rosy cheeks!

What a fun day in the snow we had! School has been canceled again for tomorrow!

This And That

* We got several inches of snow last night and today! School was canceled and Ethan was excited about his SNOW DAY!

* Isaac stayed outside playing in the snow an hour longer than Ethan. He can’t wait to go out again after nap time. Hopefully Ethan will stay warmer next time!

* Warren is home due to the snowy weather. We always love that!

* Lincoln got his first two molars making a total of 10 teeth.

* I am redecorating our living room and kitchen! The painter is coming tomorrow with samples for me to look at. I hope he’s within our price range.

* Lincoln learned how to play ‘peek-a-boo’ by covering his eyes with his hands. He found a box of tissues and pretended to blow his nose. When asked a question he will either shake his head ‘no’ or say “yah.” He can say “Isaac” in his own little way. Other than ‘Daddy’ this is the first name he has said. He babbles a  two-syllable word and puts a strong emphasis on the ‘K’ sound at the end. And that’s Isaac.

* Ethan and Isaac play with their Playmobil toys for hours together in their room.

* We have eaten burritos (Chipotle style) atleast 4 times this week! Love mexican!

* Ethan woke up twice in the middle of the night recently because of bad dreams. The first dream was about a giraffe biting him. (That was shortly after Lincoln’s giraffe party) The second dream was about Mickey (our cat) getting sick. He said Mickey’s cheeks turned blue and he kept falling down the basement stairs. As he told this dream to me, his eyes filled with tears. Poor guy!

* We’ve been getting together with our good friends, the Mabrys, once a week. Last night we played Cranium and the Falks won! Woohoo! Next we are playing pictionary using the kids art easil and markers. Should be fun. Oh, they are part of the reason we have had burritos so much this week!

* Isaac is doing a great job reading three and four letter words. It’s hard to think of him as a soon to be 5-year-old! I still like to think of him as my toddler.

* Warren makes the best coffee milkshakes! We like to have one after putting all the kids to bed for the night. (Probably not the best thing to have before bed, I know.)

* I am starting to do more with my digital scrapbook. I am feeling inspired to work at getting my pictures organized and up to date.

More Swimming!

The boys had such a fun time swimming on Monday so we decided to take them again Friday night. This time with Daddy!

Ethan and “LC Frog.” This is the 1st grade mascot. Each student gets to take LC home for a week and record their adventures with him. Ethan got off the bus with a huge smile yesterday. He said, “Mom, guess why my backpack is so fat?!” I said, “I hope it’s because your coat is in there since your not wearing it!” Nope…he forgot his coat at school, it was LC! I took one look at this frog and was kinda grossed out thinking of all the kids who have done who knows what with him. LC got a nice bath in Lysol when we got home! Ethan wanted to take LC to the pool so he could watch him swim. I’ll post more of their adventures later and tell you why he is missing an eye!

Swimming Fun!

The boys had no school on Monday so we went to the YMCA for a day of fun. We hadn’t been swimming in over two months so they were excited!

This little boy is fearless in the water! I couldn’t take my eyes off of him for a second. He kept going out to where it was too deep. I had to “rescue” him several times from under the water! (And so did one other mom at one point…) He comes up from the water smiling and waiting for the next chance to dive and scare Mommy. He is extremely comfortable in the water.

Alex and Owen (and Kari) were there too!

Warren’s one-day-early birthday gift.

Lately, Warren has been spending his spare time teaching himself to play “Moonlight Sonata” on his keyboard. He found this keyboard on craigslist yesterday and couldn’t pass up the good deal. Since Ethan and Isaac have shown some interest in playing they now have the old keyboard for their room. Needless to say, our house has been quite noisy in the evenings! (I mean, beautifully musical)

Children’s Museum

Kari and I took the kids to the children’s museum downtown. Lincoln had fun playing with anything and everything. Isaac missed his big brother who was off at school.

Emily Elizabeth, are you real?

Isaac loved being the mailman!

He’s loving himself in the mirror… It’s tough not to be vein when you’re that cute. :)

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree…

Lincoln discovered the toy vacuum cleaner in the basement. I was going to wait until he was a little bigger to give it to him, but he found it and LOVED it. He spent most the day happily vacuuming. (Something I can understand quite well!)

Here he is “loving” his new vacuum. (I did not hug my new vacuum cleaner so he did not get this from me…honest!)

What? Was I supposed to ask first?

Lincoln has started “stealing” snacks from the pantry and making a run for it. He opens the bag as fast as he can and starts shoving the food in before he gets caught.

Lincoln’s 1st Birthday!

Let’s get this party started!

Mommy and the birthday boy.

Lincoln showing off his giraffe shirt.

Mooching “puffs” off of Aunt Kari. You can get whatever you want when it’s your birthday!

Josie Mabry is loving on Lincoln and he’s playing hard to get. These two are adorable together!

Time For Presents!

He was so proud to have a  personal gift-opening chair!

Looks like fun!

Ethan is reading the card from Aunt Kari and Uncle Dan. Kari has good taste by the way, I got him the SAME card!

A new blankie! I finally found a blanket on eBay that is exactly like the one Lincoln has become attached to. It will be nice to have a back-up. When I opened the box he “loved” his blankie. He “loves” things by lying his head on it while making a sweet little sound.

This was the gift I looked forward to giving Lincoln for so long. As you can see he loves his new giraffe friend!

This little red wagon that the Mabrys got for Lincoln has become his new favorite toy! It was the first gift he opened and it was hard getting him back to open more once he saw this! The funny thing is, he can squeeze himself into this and we pull him around the house. He loves it!

Time For Cake!

Happy Birthday, dear Lincoln!

He didn’t know what to do with the cake at first! This is what he came up with. Too cute!!!

Gettin’ the hang of it…

One happy birthday boy!

Lincoln’s party was a lot of fun! As much as I could (in between hosting and the chaos of children) I really tried to soak it all in and enjoy watching my baby on his very first birthday! It was such a bitter-sweet day.

I cannot believe how fast this year has gone! I say this a lot, but I wish there was a way to freeze time…

A few reasons why we love Daddy!

He’s silly.

He’s sweet.

He’s cozy.

He can decorate sugar cookies (and cake as we found out) like nobody’s business!

He makes one handsome pirate.

He rides the scary rides.

He’s great at pillow fights!

Did I mention silly?

He loves to show off his musical talents.

He’s not too afraid to show the boys how dangerous diving can be.

His childlike excitement.

The sleeping pictures…my personal favorites!

Making sure the remote doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.

You know the cat he claims to ‘hate’…yep, this is him.

Always thinking…

He just makes our family feel so safe…

We love you. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist.)
