Level 1 Hurricane Force Winds Hit Our Area

Our swing set almost didn’t make it through the 4 hours of extremely strong winds we had come through our area. The play set shifted about 5 feet from where is was, the slide blew off, and several boards split.
The wind gusts reached over 80 MPH. Several homes in our neighborhood suffered from roof and siding damage. Thankfully our house was fine.
There are nearly 800,000 people in our area without power. Again, thankfully we were spared power-loss. We were watching the news and the reporter said, “If you are watching this you are among the few people who have power.” In fact, the schools were canceled today and atleast through tomorrow. They are expecting 3-5 days before power returns for everyone.
Crazy, crazy!
I’m glad nothing worse happened, and hopefully it wont be a big job to fix the playground.
We were in NY and had to duct tape the windows of our bedroom to the frame because they kept blowing out of the sash into the room! In Lake wood, I saw a tree that was probably 100 years old, snapped in half (the roots stayed put) and laying through what was left of the garage to one of the cottages there by the lake.
Can you imagine being on the coast riding out one of these storms?!
