Four Months Old!

Lincoln is four months today. What a little sweetheart he is! This month he slept through the night several times, but not consistently. He really got the hang of grasping his toys and reaching for things. He is so entertained by his brothers and lights up when they are around. They can make him laugh like nobody else. He giggles at them so often and then he always gets the hiccups.
Lincoln’s favorite discovery this month was learning that he could growl. He does it very often. I got good video of it and will try to post a clip so you can hear how funny it is. He sounds like a little tiger.
He is starting to roll from his back to belly. Sometimes at night he will wake up on his back and get frustrated that he can’t get back to his belly. I have had to roll him over several times so he can sleep again. He was like a turtle stuck on his back. Too cute!
He is getting so big and changing so fast. He looks so much like Ethan!

(His nose is slightly red in this picture because we had just come in from being outside and it was a little chilly out there)

First Dentist Visit!

Isaac had a big smile and was ready to go. He actually seemed to enjoy the whole experience. He was very happy and cute. The dental hygienist found him to be quite charming. He chose an orange flavored fluoride treatment because after all, that’s his favorite color. No cavities!

Ethan’s turn in the blue chair!

Ethan also did a fantastic job. They wore these sunglasses to keep the bright lights out of their eyes and to protect their eyes from splashes of water. The boys thought they were cool and loved wearing them. Ethan picked out a bubble gum flavored fluoride treatment. He has 23 teeth, one of his 6 year molars hasn’t come in yet. He has to go back next week and get two cavities filled.

Shiny teeth and a dollar bill!

I gave the boys each a dollar for doing such an awesome job at the dentist. I love how excited they get over something so small. It doesn’t take much to make a child happy. Too bad they out grow that so soon.

An early morning cuddle

Ethan and Isaac love to come into our room when they wake up to see if Lincoln is awake. Usually he is still sleeping, but today he was awake so Ethan cuddled in my bed with him while I got ready for the day.

It’s neat to see just the two of them together because Lincoln looks so much like Ethan.

Isaac ran into the mailbox and that is why he has a band-aid on his elbow. He was reminded of his “owie” tonight in the bath tub and was pretty upset about it all over again.

Ethan speeding through the grass

Ethan has been doing a good job with his bike. He only ran into two parked cars that we know of! I even got one on video. He also ran into a fence. But, by next week I hope he will be much better.

Too tough for training wheels!

Ethan AND Isaac both learned how to ride their bike with no training wheels this weekend! They are so proud of themselves and we are very proud of them! They have showed all the neighbors over and over again. Isaac asked me if I was, really, really, REALLY, proud of him.He also asked me if I was the proudest mommy ever. I am!
It was neat to watch Isaac’s sheer determination. He just tried over and over again for a couple of hours last night. He didn’t get frustrated much at all. He proved to be very patient, in fact. He didn’t really like to be helped either.

Ethan learned first on Isaac’s bike. He would get frustrated pretty easily and throw the bike down or pout and walk away. We learned it was best to ignore him rather than try to help him. He finally got it and once he did he took right off. He is doing great. Warren took Ethan out for ice cream on the day he learned. What a treat that was! Alone time with just daddy eating ice cream. Warren told Isaac that when he learned he would get to have special time with Daddy, too. We didn’t think it would be just a couple of days later, though! Today Isaac and Daddy got ice cream together.

They are growing up…

Sending Daddy email before leaving for school

Warren recently taught Ethan how to email. This morning Ethan asked me if he could email Daddy to ask him to play hide and seek after work. Warren replied and told him to be a good boy all day and then they could play. Ethan sent another email that said, “o, k daddy you our the best daddy in the word” very cute!

Ethan looks so important in this picture…like a little business man.

Handsome Ethan

Today Ethan has Kindergarten graduation pictures. The boys had to wear a shirt and tie. I think he looks so handsome! Too bad his attitude didn’t match his looks…he is not fond of ties!

A new chair for Lincoln!

Nathan and Rachel bought this bumbo seat for Lincoln. I love this thing. I set him next to me on the bathroom counter in the mornings and he loves to watch me get ready for the day. He also loves to make faces to himself in the mirror. It came with a tray too, it will come in handy when he starts eating.

Thanks Nathan and Rachel!

A glimpse of Ethan at age 6!

I don’t feel old enough to have a six-year-old, but here I am writing about Ethan turning six! He is almost finished with Kindergarten and will be heading to a full day of first grade in the Fall. I am not looking forward to him being gone from home all day Monday through Friday. He just seems too little for that. I know that his little brothers, especially Isaac will miss him terribly, too.

Ethan has always been our “challenging” child. But, this past year he has matured a lot and things get easier and easier with him. Just this weekend my Dad and sister were here for a visit. When they left Ethan started to cry and was very upset. He did this the last time we went to Tennessee to visit his Grandma and Grandpa Falk. When it was time to leave the tears came. While he was crying he told me that he wanted his WHOLE family to live near him. I think it’s hard for him because he knows it will be a while before we see them again. It broke my heart to see him so sad, but it was sweet to see how deeply he cares for his family.

Ethan continues to do well in school. His teacher recently told me that he is reading at a second grade level. We are very proud of him. But, we need to start being careful about what we leave around the house for him to find and read. A couple of weeks ago he found a list of things I wrote down that we were getting him for his birthday! He said, “Mom, you shouldn’t leave this on the counter because I can read now.” Ooops!

Ethan is really into playing with his toy guns. He has Nerf guns, water guns, and cap guns. He plays with these most of the time. He also likes his “guys.” He has lots of good guys and bad guys of course.

His favorite quiet activity is using his sharpie marker pens. He loves sharpies! He probably has about 40 different markers. He likes to write on his old school papers when he brings them home. He goes back and corrects all of his mistakes or makes some up just so he can use his pens!

His favorite colors are still blue and red.

He loves vanilla and doesn’t care much for chocolate…strange I know!

He still has not lost a tooth. We check for loose ones from time to time, but nothing yet.

Ethan is a great eater. He loves fruit! He isn’t much of a sweets eater. He would rather eat “real” food. Strange again, I know. He loves pizza, tortellini, and tacos.

His teacher says he will be an engineer when he grows up. Although, Ethan thinks he just wants to be a Daddy.

When I asked him what he wanted his wife to be like someday he said, “Old like you, Mommy.” Is that a compliment or an insult? :)

Ethan is his own person and tries to control everything! He likes to be the one in charge and give orders! We look forward to see where life will take him someday. He will probably be someone important.

When Ethan is sweet, he is extremely sweet! I cherish those times with him. He is a handsome little guy and we love him so much! It’s sad to me to know his toddler years are over. I can’t believe he is 6 already, it doesn’t seem possible!
