To the hospital

Labor started at 8am this morning, giving no warning, with painful contractions coming no more than two minutes apart. After getting in the car, they slowed to four minutes. Here is Lynn at the hospital, a few days more pregnant than she’s ever been.

Lynn was a little worried between contractions in the car ride to the hospital that it might be false labor, but then felt reassured as each new contraction started peaking that going to the hospital was a good idea. She was admitted quickly and here she is modeling the gorgeous hospital gown.

And… the new baby is born at 5:16pm. Here is mommy meeting him at about three seconds old.

Baby’s first mommy kiss.

Not a big fan of the scale, it seems. Actually he didn’t seem to be much of a fan of anything for the first several minutes. He kept trying to open his eyes every few moments but before getting them all the way open, winced at the bright lights and cried harder. But as soon as his eyes adjusted enough for him to keep his eyes open, he stopped crying immediately. His eyes jumped from one thing to another for several minutes until it was time to eat, and then sleep.

Here he is staring at Aunt Lisa

and Uncle Dan

and Aunt Kari… (starting to get tired again).

And back with Mommy and Daddy again.

Now, we had discussed several names but had to wait until seeing his face before picking any one of them. And in the end, we settled on what the boys have already been calling him. Here is Lincoln Nicholas Falk:

Comments

Welcome Lincoln! Grandpa Falk is going to be jealous of all your hair! I see you got his fingernails, though. Have your Mommy give you a kiss from Aunt Melissa, Ok?

I am so proud to be the first to comment on this one!

Looks like another “Mini-Me” for you Warren!

So tiny. I hope I won’t have to wait too long to meet him!
My new little boys aren’t so little!

That picture of the three of you in the Hospital bed is perfectly lit. I think it is the best hospital photo I have ever seen!

Congratulations!

Tonight, we should know whether or not he has Dad’s fingernails.

I’m glad we got to meet you, Lincoln. We’ve been waiting! I hope you and Owen will be good buddies someday. I still can’t get over how much he looks like Ethan. Lynn, you look great in all your hospital photos.

mom falk

Tomorrow we will be able to hold the little doll! Yes, we agree that he looks so much like Ethan. It will be interesting to see if he continues to look like him.

What great pictures, Warren! You did a good job of catching Lincoln with his eyes wide open, studying his relatives. What a sweetie! I wish I could be there when you introduce him to his big brothers.

We especially love the picture of the two of you with Lincoln. As Melissa said, the lighting is perfect–not something you would expect in the hospital!

See you soon!

P.S. Hannah just walked in, so I showed her the pictures. After oo-ing and ah-ing about her new cousin, she saw the picture of Lisa and said. “Who’s that? She looks just like Aunt Lynn!”

Warren, Don’t you mean tomorrow (the first of the month) we will know whose fingernails he has?! Tonight is the night he should be getting gas. And filling up his tank.

GREAT-AUNT BECKY

Lynn and Warren,

I am so glad that Aunt Lisa was there to see him and to help you out
with the “big brothers”

What a great start to a wonderful new year!!!!!!!!!!!
