An Unfortunate Night

At 3:30 AM this morning Warren and I were woken up by banging on our front door and the doorbell ringing. There were a couple of police officers here. They said that our street had been hit with car robberies and we were among those cars. My front window was smashed and my purse was gone. Warren’s computer bag was on the ground with his work laptop and his tablet computer missing. I am sure those will never be recovered. Warren is sick just thinking about all the work stored on the computer that he lost for good. We had a couple purses dumped in our driveway. Apparently 18 cars were hit on our street.

Warren and I usually park the car and truck in the garage at night. But, just this week, Warren has been working in the garage building himself a computer desk. And for that reason we were parking outside. Bad timing.

Good news…I was able to find my purse this morning after searching and searching. It was down the street in the drainage system. Warren was able to get the grate up and crawl down into the hole to get my purse. Everything was left inside except for a $20.00 bill. This guy or “guys” were apparently taking cash and computers only. The police officers said 8 computers were reported missing.

Purses were left with everything inside, just missing cash. They didn’t seem interested in credit cards or anything of great importance.

We think this happened around 11:30 last night. Which is pretty early. I heard some noises outside around that time and didn’t bother to get out of bed to look out the window because it was still early enough I assumed it was a neighbor. That seems to be what others have said too. People say their dogs were barking around then, but they didn’t know why, etc..

Well, I will send an update if anything turns up.

Oh, You guys! How awful! Someone stole a bike from us once and that feeling…sickening! But even worse for Warren’s work to be stolen like that! It’s no secret how important that tablet was to him– and I’m sure the same is true for the laptop! I wish this hadn’t happened to you!

That stinks! What horrible thing to happen. What’s Warren going to do with all his data now gone? His whole life was in that thing.

Well, except the most important parts: Lynn, the kids, Us….

I’m sure he would have put us all in there if he could.
