Dandelions
Dandelions grasped in grubby hands
More precious than orchids,
Or roses, or tulips
A child’s innocent offering
A natural outpouring of love and joy
A gift given without expectation
I saw this poem online and it was just perfect for this picture. Ethan was so sweet out in the field picking flowers. He was so careful with them and enjoyed arranging them in his hand. He liked the ones with really long stems.
I admire his restraint. I would have blown the tops off all those puffy ones before I had a handful like that!
It’s too bad that dandelions have such a bad reputation, because they are quite pretty-and yellow, my favorite color in flowers! Ethan looks like he’s taking this flower picking very seriously!
